2015 Rouge Roubaix

Now this is a contest worth entering. Argonaut Cycles, Mosiac Bespoke Bicycles and Breadwinner Cycles have teamed up for the 2015 Rouge Roubaix Builder Challenge. Each builder will bring a team of four to race in this year's Rouge Roubaix, and one slot on each Builder Team is up for grabs.

Each squad is looking for a motivated, experienced racer, and each builder will select one applicant and build them a complete custom dream bike, and then fly them to race the Rouge Roubaix which takes place March 15 in St. Francisville Louisiana.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, live in the United States, and hold a valid USA Cycling license for the category of the Builder Team they select. Submission deadline is January 19 with the winners being announced January 23.

Just know that this isn't some Sunday office park criterium. The Rouge Roubaix is an 103-mile road race that, as race website details, covers the good, the bad, and the ugly of the Felicianas. The race starts in St. Francisville, then travels north and west through the back roads of West Feliciana Parish and Wilkinson County, Mississippi. Racers will encounter constantly rolling terrain and a few testing climbs. Road surfaces vary greatly; chip and seal, sandy gravel, smooth as glass asphalt, and some roads that are just plain bad are all part of the equation.

If you think you're up to the challenge, select your builder and fill out the application, which includes a laundry list of questions such as: On average, how many miles do you ride a week; are you comfortable riding in a group; what is your average mph range for a typical road ride in your area; describe your riding style; describe a ride you've done in the last year that was memorable; describe your experience riding on dirt and diverse road terrain; and what are some of your riding goals for 2015 and how does racing the Rouge Roubaix fit in with these goals?

Got your answers ready? Good luck!
