It’s pretty hot where I live right now so I’ve been trying to exercise in the evening when it’s cooler. However the late night exercise is seriously screwing with my sleeping patterns – My head feels ‘wired’ in the middle of the night!

Why is this? Is there a known number of hours after medium intensity exercise when it’s okay, such that I can plan a cut-off time each night?

I’ve also returned to a plan after a period or relative inactivity – could it also be overtraining?

Cheers,

I've heard that you should avoid exercise 3-4 hours before bedtime as a measure of good sleep hygene. As far as overtraining, it could be...but you would need to give us more info about the frequency and intensity of your workouts.
