Hi All,

We've got a family wedding in Cleveland this comming summer. The plan is to take a slow trip out with stops near Cedar Point and out in Put In Bay. I will have the bike with me. Any recommendations for routes or things to go look at from a bicycle seat from the locals.

Wow, nobody showing the love. Well, I'm a former NE OH resident, so I guess that will have to do. Contact http://www.clevelandtouringclub.org/ for advice. Look at their site for lots of routes. Also, look at http://centurycycles.com/ for information about riding in and around the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. You may want to try a train ride.

Hopefully others will start to chime in too. Lots of riding in Medina County, Emerald Necklace (Metro Parks) that circle Cleveland, etc. Riding near Cedar Point is very flat and not too interesting. Rolling hills pick up as you get closer to Cleveland.

Cedar Point is the best as far as amusement parks. You will enjoy that for sure if you like roller coasters.

LOL, I read the first sentence and was going to suggest Put In Bay. You already have that covered...

For an urban ride, I've had a good time riding around downtown on a Sunday along the lakefront..Ride by Browns stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of fame....Downtown is pretty much deserted on Sundays so no real traffic worries.. There is a lot of culture and beautiful old buildings downtown

Also, the Cleveland metroparks system is great. They have over 50 miles of roads in a nice parklike setting.

Another suggestion would be Kelley's island near Put-in-Bay. It is a less crowded than the Bass islands.

+1 on century cycles. They have a nice ride near their Peninsula store.

I'll be in Euclid near 222 and Hwy 90 at the in-laws. I've ridden out of there once before. I rode to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and back along the lake. I also did a loop out to Headlands State Park, down to Holden Arborateum, but ended up getting lost for the return leg and ending up riding Chardon Rd back most the way which wasn't tons of fun, but got the job done.

The vacation is coming together. We're out in Put in Bay on M,T,W July 13-15. Then to Euclid for until Monday the 20th. I imagine the wedding will consume most of the riding time over that weekend.

I'm toying with the idea of getting up early and riding to Lakewood from Sandusky on the 15th. I've done none of the good research to see if its feasible or advisable. Is Highway 6 at all ride worthy?

Ok, we are off this weekend. Stopping in Chicago along the way to see the Harry Potter exhibit in the Sci & Indust Musm. Then it's onto Put in Bay for M,T,W.

I bought the Adventure Cycling Northern Tier map for this section and may try to ride into Cleveland along the route if time and other obligations permit.
