So, the DeBernardi I picked up is set up for modern, short-bolt allen-wrench mounted brakes.

The brakes I want to use are the old, long-bolt nutted-style- Modolo professionals. I've had them for years, they work great and look amazing.

I know Rivendell sells a little plastic adapter (which I have on another bike, and it works great), but I really don't want to pay $8 to have $2 worth of parts shipped to me, and I really don't want to buy a bunch of other stuff just to justify the cost of shipping.

SO, any other solutions for mounting old brakes on newer frames? Is it possible to replace the mounting bolts?

has anyone ever tried to make their own little adapter?

options:
-cut bolt... rear on front, cut or replace front (maybe need to thread)
-use a washer
-go find adapter at hardware store (riv's is not made for brakes)
