there was a NOVA program on last nite that showed various robots in a DARPA-sponsored competition...

the tech is pretty interesting, but definitely still in its infancy.

then I want one.
By the time it can do that, you won't have a job as the robot will have taken yours.

People seem to forget that with cool new automation their jobs are going to be eliminated and those people become unemployable

Yeah they haven't uploaded the "WTF Dude?" Code yet.
I was secretly hoping it would happen because that guy seemed to take a little too much pleasure in knocking the box around, and the jab at the front of the 'bot was the last straw...

I'm problably safe until they invent a robot that can deal with corporate politics

Although my systems are leaning towards some job elimination...

You could probably create a computer script to run Robert's Rules of Order between a set of servers and thus make the world's fastest most efficient board meetings...while still following Robert's Rules.

Such kinds of things are precisely the kind of thing computers are good at.

Just like how no doctor in the world can ever know all the prescription medicines available, and their side-effects, and their cross-relationships and exclusionary warnings about specific other meds, and when to prescribe each and how.....but such a thing is precisely the kind of thing a computer excels at.

yep, if your job involves some kind of repetitive motion, you'll probably be replaced by a bot.

bots do those kinds of tasks faster and more precisely and don't require breaks, sick leave, vacation, or pensions.

the humans that are displaced might want to get schooled up in robot maintenance skills.
