I have a whole bunch of old burfday/Christmas/Thank You Cards.

How long before I am morally allowed to throw them away?

Be sure you've taken the money/checks/gift cards out before you toss 'em.....

I keep mine in a box and use the fronts (pictures) to make gift tags (cut appropriately of course). Those that aren't suitable get tossed after a few weeks if they are just general greeting cards.

Chuck 'em once the holiday has passed.

Thank you cards? Read 'em, show 'em to your wife (when you're married) then toss.

That's a given.
Anybody old enough to slip money into a card for me is old enough to be dead.
The best present that I could get in a card would be a "Bike Coupon". That's like a "Get out of Jail" free card. It gives the bearer the option to go to a bike race on the same day that some 4th cousin's kid is having his 8th birthday party.

Recard them. Just write the name of the person you're giving to over yours in sharpie or crayon or something like that.

Bonus points if you recard a sympathy card for a birthday or anniversary.

I'm terrible. I open them, read them, and immediately recycle them. I am not in the business of displaying cards. Personally, I think they are a waste of good paper, but I do appreciate the sentiment.
