I recently fixed up a mid 1980's raleigh and converted it into a single speed for commuting purposes. The tires that are on it now are from that era as well and on the sidewall it limits the max psi of 70. My question is if i put a modern tire on the rim will the old rim be able to handle an increase to around 110psi. The wheel is an Araya, sorry i cant be more specific about the specific model.
thanks

That should be no problem at all. I've got the same rims in 27" on my commuter bike. I run 100 - 120# in my tires all the time.

If the rim is "hooked", then there will be no problem. If it isn't, 75 psig is probably your max pressure.
