I have a set of DA (7700) OP wheels, 32 spokes. I had the rear wheel trued on Saturday and by mile 60 on my Sunday century the wheel was out of true again. I had one of the wrenches at the ride look at the wheel. Some of the spoke nipples are starting to separate from the rim. Is this something that can be inexpensively corrected? I bought the wheels used so I don't know the total mileage. I have put 4000+ on the wheels. I planned on gettting new wheels anyway, but I wanted to use these for a couple of my rides that go over some rougher roads.

Do you mean the rim is cracking and the eyelets are pulling through? If so, the rim is toast. It will keep getting worse, and will fail completely If you mean something else by "starting to separate", explain.

Time for a rebuild.

New rim + labor = ?

if you have not broken any spokes, you can reuse (Do not remove spokes from hub)

Remember that a wheel is only as good as the person that builds it.

My favorite wheelbuilder only works part time on Saturday's now. ( He went back to school to get his teaching degree)

Besides him, I can't recomend anybody else.
(I'm sure that there are other good builders, but I don't know where they are)

NorthWest Suburbs of Chicago.
