Is it possible to selectively throttle back bandwidth for certain sites like Youtube? Now it takes forever to watch a Youtube vid on my work lappy. I suspect the IT Nazis are behind it.

They've block all the blog websites at my work, even though my school district has paid some big bucks for blog features for students and teachers to blog. :mad2:

But hey I can still watch hulu and youtube, makes no sense to me.

Yes.

You'll thank them, eventually.

Or not.

Sounds like your IT Nazis and our IT nazis have been in cahoots. Same thing here, only it's RBR forums that take longer than dial-up to download now.

I called our IT nazis up a couple weeks ago: "So, apparently the IT nazis are sending me hate mail."
Pause. "What do you mean 'hate mail.'?'"
"Well, I get messages such as, 'We are tracking your movement on the internet. This site is restricted your account is not authorized...' Really, I'm not looking at porn. Is there an issue with me having a site up and the screen reduced? If I have a site up, and there's only a couple I visit really, and it's up for hours... it means I've got it reduced and I just pop in to it from time to time when things are slow, which ain't often."
"We can't track people unless we have permission from the higher-ups.We have hoops to jump through in order to track people."
"Why me?"
"Well, I'm not sure. The next time you receive one of these messages, call us so we can look at it and know what you're talking about."

Puh-leez. You just want to see my Lounge kit pics.

wtf????

Well I got 8.something before the download error occurred.

Is your internet really that slow?

I say call the ISP and talk to them. I hate ISPs. They always screw with you.

I just got done chatting with tech support. Sounds like it's the modem. They are sending me a new one. They switched the gateway thinking it might be that, but no difference. Hopefully that will resolve it.

At least you can watch teh u-tube a work. ALL streaming vids are shut down at my work. No flash players, either. Or even Windows media player.
