At this year's Sea Otter Classic, the RoadBikeReview booth was right next to our good friend, Jeff Zell who is the Brand Manager for Panaracer. They have some exciting developments with the release of their new EVO3 road tubeless tires and the new skinwall versions of their popular Gravelking tires.
Check out this highlight reel from Panaracer introducing the EVO3 line:
A result of two years of development, Panaracer claims a quality ride feel and durability combined (click to enlarge).
EVO 3 Road Tubeless
Panaracer engineers have spent the last two years combining their renowned ride quality into a durable new offering that will handle the most demanding roads and conditions. Jeff explains, "The new EVO3 Race series is handcrafted in Japan using our fifty years of tire making experience and a dedicated team of riders who also happen to be engineers. Knowing what riders want and need and then developing proprietary materials to deliver performance and durability not see in road tires before is what Panaracer is all about."
The tubeless specific ProBead was designed from the ground up to some of the tightest tolerances in the cycling industry. Panaracer engineers started from scratch to ensure their design and implementation of a tubeless system was better than what the competition currently offers. A large concern for their engineers was how to handle flats. By ensuring that the bead will stay in place even when the tire is completely deflated adds an extra level of security to the system. Unlike other carbon-based beads, Panaracer claims that their proprietary bead in the EVO3 Tubeless tires optimizes safety, with no degradation of performance over a long period of time.
The EVO3 Tubeless road tires will be distributed exclusively through Excel Sports in North America.
The SK stands for semi-knob and these gravel specific tires will come in 32c and 40c widths (click to enlarge).
Gravelking SK semi-knob skinwall
The Gravelking SK is a semi-knob gravel tire that comes in 700x32c, 700x35c and 700x40c with a 126 TPI casing and aramid bead. Claimed weight for the 32c is 320 grams (per tire), 35c is 380 grams and weight for the 40c SK is 490 grams. The skinwall side has a cool, retro look to it. The popular Gravelking tires are available in 23c, 26c, 28c and 32c (x700) and also have a 126 TPI casing and aramid bead. These popular tires are now available in a skinwall version as well as 27.5x1.5 and 27.5x1.75 sizes. All of these are available now for your local Panaracer dealer.
