Will Petacchi do any of the spring classics or will he lay low for the Giro?

Yeah, Boonen said he sprinted early, Petacchi caught and passed him, then Boonen re-launched and pipped Ale-jet on the line.

If only TV CARRIED that...

I was thinking about this year's sprinters the other day. With pitacchi, boonen and mcewen all at their high levels (even though boonen is young and should get even better), we'll be treated to some great sprinting this season. Its been a while. Lately, as one sprinter is emerging, the other is fading (ie. petacchi/cipo).

He's gunning for Milan-San Remo for sure, as is Boonen. We'll see how things are given the addition of the new hills on the parcours.

Could Bettini be a dark horse here, or will be a team player and try to win de Ronde? Bettini has done well in de Ronde in the past, but being in the same team as Boonen may mean that he will be given short leash by Patrick Lefevere. Coincidentally, de Ronde is one of the few things that Michele Bartoli has won but Bettini has not yet. Maybe Bettini will switch teams next year just for that?

I don't think Boonen will pursue

MSR if it means it's at the expense of R-V-V and P-R. with the extra climbs Quickstep will have an advantage sending Bettini early and forcing the sprint teams to chase allowing Tom a free ride to the finsih.
