Taylor Phinney piloted his BMC timemachine TT01 to a runner-up finish Tuesday in the Tour de Romandie prologue, less than a half-second off the winning time.

Evans Finishes 25th
On a technical, three-kilometer course, the BMC Racing Team U.S. national time trial champion's time (3:40.69) was only bettered by the 3:40.42 by Jonathan Castroviejo (Euskaltel-Euskadi). Phinney will wear the points jersey for Stage 1. "There were probably places where I could make up some time, but at the end of the day, it's just so crazy with everything just flying at you," Phinney said. "The cobbled sections actually kind of frightened me before the race, but when I was on them, I just went full-tilt into it and it ended up being pretty good." Cadel Evans, the 2006 Tour de Romandie winner, finished 25th.
