There is no difference between 8 speed road chain and 8 speed MTB chains. I would suggest a Wipperman chain, as it has a re-useable quick connect link. If you do get a SRAM chain, check to make sure the link is re-useable, as the power links on the 10 speed chains are not re-useable, and cost around 4 bucks! However, the links on the 8 speed models may be re-useable, so check first.
