I just thought it would be interesting to see the age distribution of the road bike enthusiasts on this forum. I’m particularly impressed by the number of older riders I see on the road, versus younger riders.

A few weeks ago, I rode up to a road closure on my usual route that was closed for the statewide road racing events for the Arizona Senior Olympics. One of the organizers told me that a 72 year old man had averaged ~25 mph on one of the events (10K TT?). That’s inspiring!

I put down my chronological age.

My wife says my mental age generally varies between 8 and 15 (on a good day).

Should I revote the average?

I'm 57 and have been doing those since I turned 50. Went to the 2007 Nationals in Louisville in road racing and qualified for the 2009 in San Francisco for both TT and road racing, but I'm not going as its too far to drive from FL and I don't want the hassle of shipping all the gear back and forth (I'm going to ride in Colorado for a week with friends in August anyway). Its pretty competitive here in FL, lots of 55 Masters licensed racers show up. You'll enjoy it and will be surprised at how fast the 50+ crowd is on a bike.

Just turned 49 (voted) but feel like I'm still in my 30's. I think the key is to eat healthy and exercise...gee, what a revelation, why didn't someone else think of this?

Hay, I resemble that remark!
(proudly)

45 is my number of completed laps about the Sun.
My behavior age can jump from 8 to 80 in 4 seconds flat, and then down to 25.
Ax my wife!
