Just for sh*ts and giggles-drop him a line, and offer to send him a "cheque" for $500 over the asking amount and tell him to wire you the difference by Western Union...........

Yes, this is a scam. He has told one friend that he has already shipped this bike to him, but told me that the bike was still for sale a few days later. It sounds like what he is doing is creating a fake USPS shipping notification and then demanding a check before you receive the bike.

His messages to my friend was:

"The shipping will be under 50$ and i guess it will be easier if i send it by USPS. You will send the payment after i ship the bike and USPS confirms it. Let me know what you think about this. If you accept my offer then send me your address and i will ship the bike in the morning."

and then...

"I will go right now and ship the bike.I will ask USPS to email you and confirm the shipment as soon as i finish."

I emailed him

What the heck right? A Madone 5.9 for $1500!

Well, he replied and said lets make a deal. That USPS would work best, blah, blah, blah. He didn't answer any questions I asked in my email. So, I asked if I could pick it up myself. I'll let you know how that goes.
