Price on 2010 Tarmac Expert

Just put a deposit down on a 2010 Tarmac Expert. I was involved in an accident a few weeks ago with a car and am waiting for a check from the insurance company. I plan on taking the money the insurance company gives me and putting it towards the new Tarmac. I will then make up the difference myself.

The new Tarmac lists for $3,300, but I was able to get the bike for $2,950 before the 7% sales tax. Does this sound like a decent price? I am expecting just about 2,300 from the insurance. The insurance company has put me through hell with the claim. They were balking at paying because they tried to say how do they know the accident caused the damage. Was the damage on the bike before the accident etc etc. They were trying to say pot holes could have caused frame problems etc. So, even at this point I haven't heard for absolute certainty exactly what they are paying. I just wanted to get a deposit down to hold the bike because I have heard that supplies are limited. They had my size at the LBS and it is the bike I wanted.

Many variables enter into LBS pricing, but very generally speaking I'd say you got a decent price.

Just an unsolicited opinion, but if you haven't already done so, consider contacting an attorney. Insurance companies goal is to NOT pay, and when it's just you against them, they have the experience/ expertise and you don't.
I insisted they send someone to the LBS to get the opinion of the staff there. The LBS said they educated the insurance rep and they said the rep was very responsive and said they had a good feeling from the rep. My next step is an Attorney if I don't get results. I said to the insurance company I will NOT settle below the repair estimate. They offered me $1,500. I said absolutely no. They initially refused to contact the lbs, let alone send a rep. I said I can't for the life of me understand why you won't call the lbs or send a rep. If it was a car I know you would call the shop and/or send a rep to see what is going on. They finally agreed to send the rep. The rep was there on Wednesday, 5/26. I will give them till next Wednesday, 6/2. If I don't hear from them, I will call them and see what's up. If I hear from them and am not happy with the outcome, I will contact an Attorney. Thanks for the help!! I was happy with the price of $2950. Considering they are very difficult to get.

This doesn't appear to be a personal injury case (but hopefully you still got medical attention), so IMO the attorney isn't essential. But as you can tell, insurance companies goal is to not pay, then pay minimally.

Glad you're ok (and that's really most important), and good luck getting that new Tarmac - nice reward!
I was injured in the accident, but not seriously. The accident report does state I was injured. The paramedics at the scene were trying to get me to go to the hospital, but I said I was ok. My wife thought I was crazy for not going. The insurance company did escalate the claim to their injury liability division once they learned I was injured. I didn't break anything but did have a sore left arm for a few days and some scratches.

Sorry, but I agree with your wife. Seriously, if this happened fairly recently you should go to the hospital for X-rays and a check up. If you're in a 'no fault' state it would be 100% covered, but even if you're not, the ins. co. (I would hope) would have covered it. Another reason for an attorney. But there's also pain/ suffering, lost wages (if any) and any damages (bike, clothing, helmet, etc.)

You can probably still pursue this, but I wouldn't waste too much time. But... JMO's.
