Many variables enter into LBS pricing, but very generally speaking I'd say you got a decent price.kevindef said:Just put a deposit down on a 2010 Tarmac Expert. I was involved in an accident a few weeks ago with a car and am waiting for a check from the insurance company. I plan on taking the money the insurance company gives me and putting it towards the new Tarmac. I will then make up the difference myself.
The new Tarmac lists for $3,300, but I was able to get the bike for $2,950 before the 7% sales tax. Does this sound like a decent price? I am expecting just about 2,300 from the insurance. The insurance company has put me through hell with the claim. They were balking at paying because they tried to say how do they know the accident caused the damage. Was the damage on the bike before the accident etc etc. They were trying to say pot holes could have caused frame problems etc. So, even at this point I haven't heard for absolute certainty exactly what they are paying. I just wanted to get a deposit down to hold the bike because I have heard that supplies are limited. They had my size at the LBS and it is the bike I wanted.
Just an unsolicited opinion, but if you haven't already done so, consider contacting an attorney. Insurance companies goal is to NOT pay, and when it's just you against them, they have the experience/ expertise and you don't.
