Employing its newest carbon layup technology that balances strength and weight savings, PRO's new Vibe SL handlebar is the lightest cable-integrated bar Shimano's component brand has ever made.
By combining high modulus carbon fiber with high strength fibers, the Vibe SL uses less resin in the manufacturing process, resulting in a design that is 15% lighter than the previous Vibe handlebar offering.
Balancing this weight savings with stiffness and safety, PRO designed the Vibe SL range with an Innegra inside safety layer, which helps carbon retain its structure in the event of an impact. The Innegra layer together with a specially designed carbon layup keeps the bar stiff in the areas that are subject to extra torsional, tensional (fatigue) and compression (impact) forces without adding extra weight.
The Vibe SL also includes entry and exit ports for integrated Shimano Di2 or mechanical shift cables and mechanical or hydraulic brake lines. This new fully cable-integrated Vibe SL range comes in two styles, either a Compact (claimed weight 184 grams) or Aero design (claimed weight 209 grams). The Compact bar is available in 38cm, 40cm, or 42cm while the wind-cheating Aero bar, which has a flatter top section narrow drops, is available in both 38cm and 42cm widths. Both handlebars will be available in October 2018.
