Hi,

I shipped my bike (an older bianchi) a year ago...and since then, whenever I brake, the whole front wheel lurchces back and forth. It feels almost as if the brakes are slipping and catching every rotation...similar to what anti-lock brakes on a car feel like. I checked teh headtube assembly and it feels pretty tight, so I'm not sure of the problem.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I've cleaned the rims of my wheels and the brakepads, so i can't think of anything that would cause this.

p.s. the shipping piece may not neccessarily have had anything to do with it...so don't let that throw you off.

Sounds like brake shudder. Check--or have a bike shop check--your brakes, pads and wheel.

I had that problem once and I put some automotive brake lapping compound on the rim (paste) and a bit of water and spun the wheel and applied the brakes repeatedly then rinsed it all off and they were as good as new (de-glazed)

edit: it could also be the front wheel bearings
