Ok so from what I've read, forks that are meant for integrated headsets will work on conventional ones. I was wondering however if there would be an issue with the aesthetics? Is it possible that the level part of the fork (where the lower headset cup sits) would be larger the said cup?

I need a new fork, and that's something to consider for me... I don't want a bike that looks like its components are mismatched...

Frame is alu (Cannondale CAAD4)

The frame is aluminum, but IMO, if there's a visual mismatch around the headset, it will look silly no matter the headtube's width, no? Besides, I suppose a 1" 1/8 headtube will likely have a similar diameter whether it's made from steel or aluminum or whatever...

Still, it answers my question. Dammit. Now I'll be on the lookout for that ever-rarer non-integrated fork on eBay...
