so I will be going down to Newport OR for a week or so (starting later this week) and wondering about some riding down there. I got a road bike that I could take if there are some rides there. I will be working so I wouldn't have all day to ride but I can do a bit of time shifting as necessary. Here at home in Seattle is do 20 to 30 mile daily rides so I'm comfortable with that.

See our local club web site:

www.yaquinawheels.org

and my Picasa albums of rides in the Newport area:

Our club will be putting on a Century/Metric Century ride on Sunday, August 17th, so if you are still in town, give that a try. See

http://www.yaquinawheels.org/Century.html

for more info on the ride. One of my Picasa albums is a preview of the routes.

Also, 10 AM Saturday morning at the LBS (Bike Newport), a small group does a ride, weather permitting. 25 miles is up the bay to Toledo, Oregon and back, with options to extend it to 50 or 70 (includes parts of our Lighthouse rides).

PM me when you know when you are heading this way. There are several of us 'retired/semi-retired' guys who area always looking for an excuse to ride.

OK....I might still be a bit busy next week policing my SAG route for our Century ride, but am doing some of it on my beater bike...cutting blackberry vines that are growing out in the shoulder or into the travel lane if there's no shoulder.
