I picked up a raleigh technium 440, with maviv rims, and i believe they are "phil wood" hubs, "look" pedals, some shimano 600 components, for $80. Does anyone know anything about these bikes. Thanks

They came out in 84 after the olympics. The main tubes are aluminum bonded to a steel rear triangle depending on the model will determine if it's Cro-mo or mild steel. The bikes were okay for the money but are not really desireable or sought after these days. The wheels and pedals were probably worth the $80 though.

Somebody did some serious upgrade on the wheels and pedals. If they are in good conditon the hubs alone would bring about $100 on ebay even if the rear hub is 126 mm for a freewheel. I've heard from multiple sources that these frames had a pretty high failure rate--the bonding process apparently is not durable.
