I caught the bike commuting bug this year and decided to outfit my 2005 Giant OCR-1 with a set of rear panniers. Blackburn EX-1 rear rack comes in the mail, but seems to be way too tall for the compact frame of the OCR-1. When the rack is level, the seat stays eyelets on the frame (where the extension bars connect) are about 2 inches lower than the rack platform.
If I keep the extension bars straight I have to tilt the rack way forward. I was about to send the rack back when I saw this picture with bent extension bars:

Now, does that look like a good idea?
I contacted Blackburn, but am yet to hear back. Would appreciate any thoughts on this.
Thanks,
