I am looking to run a 13-29 cassette with a Record rear derailleur. The obvious choice with my double crankset is the medium cage version. However, totalcycling has '03 long cages on sale.
The campy website does not make a specific mention of using the long cage with a double drivetrain. I am guessing they would be compatible, but would like some opinions before shelling out the money. Are there any disadvantages to that setup?

If you're careful with the chain setup, a short cage will work with a 13-29. Mine is set up this way and functions perfectly. The derailleur has plenty of tension in small/small and has a lot more "range" of motion left in big/big. YMMV
