Red Rose Races has cancelled all remaining races this year! Their website says details to follow on Thursday. They run a large number of road races in south eastern PA.

That sux! I was planning on 3 or 4 more of their races this season.

Anyone know what happened?

I know that lots of you enjoy racing the events immediately north in PA.
One of the PCA high volume promoters has thrown in the towel - see the
e-mail below. I do know that the PCA folks are working hard to solve the
problem, but that may take some time. For now, all the Red Rose Races are
canceled.

Effective June 1, 2008 the business of Red Rose Races.com, Inc. has been
suspended indefinitely and Rich Ruoff has resigned. As a behind-the-scenes
investor in this enterprise I will attempt to liquidate whatever assets Rich
turns over (trailer, equipment, etc.) and make restitution to everyone owed
money in some proportionate and fair way, but this will take time and Rich's
cooperation. Rich has been a friend and great cycling enthusiast and it's
terribly unfortunate that things snowballed out of control to the point that
past debts and current spending overwhelmed the business operations and
things simply could not continue. Beginning with the Rapho Road RaceT on
Saturday, June 7 all of the 2008 events have been canceled. I am in
discussion with Pennsylvania Cycling Association and USA Cycling
representatives to find potential answers to the crisis this situation
represents for bicycle racing in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Sincerely,

David S. Butterworth
CEO
Red Rose Races.com, Inc.

Amazing anyone was actually trying to make money promoting bike races.

I moved away from that area two years ago and maybe they got better in the interum, but they weren't particularly good at it either.

If you want to make money from promoting cycling events, centuries are the way to go. No payout and usually no cops to hire, and they require far less man power.

I was just going to post about this. A couple crits that I was going to do are gone. Aaaarrrrgggghhh. Although, I must admit, the cross race they held last fall/winter sucked eggs, so I can't say that I'm surprised. F%ck. This throws off my cross prep and summer pain a bit. Thank dawg for the races in the Allentown area...

Red Rose Races

Website was supposed to have been updated yesterday with some sort of explanation....but as of the am - still nothing:

Red Rose Races
News:
Bad things have happened.
As it stands now, the balance of the
Red Rose Races.com season has been canceled.
Watch this site on Thursday for full details.

I'm kind of bummed as well. I have done several of these races over the past several years....medical issues forced me off the bike and now I photograph many of the RRR for Rich (www.MLKimages.com). Races were all well run and just earlier this year the series has some big plans for expansion - maybe tried too much too fast??

I guess i'll move back into the woods and photograph more mountain bike races now.

Wiow. Read a lot of that. S*cks. I feel sorry for Rich and his family (although there are always 3 sides to the story...)
