This is a little apples-to-oranges, but I bought a Redline Monocog this year, which is sort of the off-road equivalent of the 925, and it's pretty decent. It's a little heavy, and it features the typical cost-cutting on the hubs, headset, and BB, and it has lots of "house brand" hardware. But for the price (I paid $450), it's a worthy steel frame that hasn't given me any trouble. I suspect the same will be true for the 925. I have ridden the San Jose, and while it shares all the cost-cutting/house brand characteristics of the Redline, it felt like a very solid ride and was a decent weight. These two bikes probably share more commonalities than differences.
