so i have a 1987 bridgestone i converted to a fixie. i have a rear rack and slapped some planet bike clip-on fenders on her last week. but i have noticed areas of rust around pretty much all the lugs.
i have toyed with the ideao of getting her bead blasted and powder coated.

then i saw the 2009 redline 925. now i kinda really wanna get that. it would be pretty much be a direct replacement, except for the lack of lugs, different steel and possible geometry change. plus its green!

so, how much rust is too much to warrant a new bike?

Unless it's rusted right through, I say keep it. Strip it and repaint yourself if you don't want to dish out a lot of cash. I'm sure that rust is just surface rust.
