Being a retrogrouch, my steel steed has a Regina Oro chain and an Oro 13-18 freewheel. This morning my 16 tooth cog just snapped! Thinking that I broke the chain, I inspected the drivetrain and found that the 16 tooth cog broke in two while still on the cluster.

Is anyone out there familiar with this problem concerning the older stuff!. The 13-18 body cluster is the two prong type (1980 stamped). Both components are no more than 3 years old--I just cannot believe that they are used enough to need replacement.

You will probably never be able to find a new 16 tooth cog that will fit.
(Sometimes, old, retro stuff is crappier than new, modern crappy stuff)

It's a fluke

I put an untold number of miles on Regina Oro freewheels, as did "everyone else" in those days, and I never heard of a cog failure like that. You just got plain lucky :)
