Removing pedals

I stupidly disassembled my bike (to ship the frame for repair) without removing the pedals now I'm having a hard time removing them. Any tips for removing the pedals with the cranks off the bike or is it just brute strength cause my arms sure are sore trying to get them off.

^ Great advice Mootsie! Leverage is your friend. I've also put an old seat post over my wrench for added leverage.

Also great advice that I keep in my head - BACK OFF...turn towards the back of the bike to get pedals off.

And...I should say in my earlier days I too had a heckofa time getting pedals off, getting confused which way to turn. I have a scrape in my DT paint on one bike to remind me of this and the memory of smashing my fingers on my chain ring, which took a long time to heal. Ah, the fun of wrenching without knowing enough...
