Hi folks,

Quick question. I currently have a 09 Scott Speedster s40 . A close friend of mine gave me a complete Ultegra 6700 Group set. He's pretty much loaded so it was a gift on his part. No complaints here,

My question is:

1. My crankset is a Truvativ Touro Triple crankset. Which tool or tools do I need to use in order to remove it. I would just take it to my local bike shop but it's too damn far and they kind of suck.

An 8mm should remove the left crank arm. You'll need bottom bracket wrench to remove the Truvativ GXP bottom bracket and to install the Shimano bottom bracket. If you feel comfortable wrenching on your own, I'd buy the bottom bracket wrench and do it yourself.

Thanks again for the advice but I'm still a little confused.

Can you or someone give me an example of what exact crankset and bottom bracket tool I'll need? I really don't want to buy the wrong tool. I'm still learning as I go. (-:

That crank set does not use external bearing GXP bottom bracket. I assumed it it did. It is a square taper spindle internal bearing bottom bracket.

You'll need a crank arm puller and bottom bracket wrench for internal shells. The cost for these tools is modest but if you are upgrading to 6700 crank set, it is not worth buying tools you will use one time; unless you have other bike that use the same bottom bracket. I'd borrow the tools or pay the local shop to remove the old cranks and bottom bracket.

To remove your Truvativ crank you will need these tools

Either one of these depending if the Truvativ bottom bracket uses 8-notch or 20-spline shell.
