I am going to spend a week in Phoenix early April. I am considering renting a case from my local Bike Shop to bring my Madone. But, I did a search and a few shops in phoenix rent bikes for $ 45-$90 per day. I am a million miler on United so I won't pay bag fees for the bike case, so bringing is cheaper. But, I may only ride two of the days. I think it would be less of a hassle to rent there.

Anyone have any experience with renting from any shops in Phoenix?

Can't help with the shops but I can tell you that bringing the bike for only two days of riding sounds like a major headache. I would make some phone calls to the shops you ran down that rent bikes. Ask what they can rent you, if the size you need is available, the condition of the bike, and if you can reserve the bike. You don't want to get there and hear they rented the bike out to someone else. If you can't reserve a bike from the shop, go elsewhere.
