So the teeth on my 7900 big ring are quite worn as determined by comparing it, visually, to an unused one.

Is there any point in replacing it if shifting is fine and I haven't noticed my chain to have an unreasonably short life span? I don't pay a ton of attention to how many miles I get out of a chain so it could be shorter by a few hundred and I wouldn't know.....but the time I get out of a chain is acceptable to me so I'm not considering chain wear a problem.

I can't think of any damage that could be done other than bad shifting or killing off chains too quick so thinking I'll just keep using it until I notice it's causing a problem but wanted a second opinion in case I'm overlooking anything.

thanks,

That's about it. But if you don't catch chain wear quick enough, you'll wear out your cassette and small ring much faster.

If you're going to stick with it, check your chain for wear frequently.
Thank you. I'm very good about checking for chain wear and not delaying replacement so should be all set here.
