<table border="0" width="700"><tr><td>Got in another great, long (for me), solo ride on Saturday. Brentwood to the coast, down the coast through Santa Monica, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, then up the hill and around the Palos Verdes peninsula, then down the hill into San Pedro.
And back.
I didn't venture far into San Pedro, as I don't know the streets well at all and they seemed to be pretty nutso. So I tooled around the northern end for a little bit before heading back.
80 miles, 4000ft of climbing.
Some of the hills getting back to Palos Verdes from San Pedro were short but killer. They really didn't seem that bad going down. What gives? My Garmin showed the first one peaking at 18% and the second one peaking at 16%.
These are the first really tough rides I've done on the IF since I got it back in November. Comfort-wise, I have to say, it's everything I hoped it would be.

Palos Verdes Drive, winding around the peninsula.
A view of the bluffs off PV Drive. Some of the most beautiful scenery around.
More PV Drive.
About to descend into the harbor.
The Vincent Thomas bridge in the distance.
Same bridge, same distance.
One of the many marinas around San Pedro.
These places look abandoned, but they're not.
This wasn't abandoned either.
The first of the steep-ass hills out of San Pedro.
The second of the killer hills. The pictures just don't do them justice.
Making my way back along the strand through El Segundo.
Reaching the bridge at the end of the South Bay bike path.
