Rival saves you some money. Force saves some weight.

Rival. The weight savings is pretty minimal and you give up part of it because you're not using the group's brake set. Use the extra $$ to have a better selection of tires to use.

Brakes any better?
Force has a carbon crank, is that any smoother/stiffer?

no funtional difference. both shifters have the exact same internals, the only diff is the material the shift paddle is made with, aluminum on rival, magnesium on force. go w/ rival unless you can find a screamin' deal on force, and then get some really nice tires (tubulars if you're racing).

I went all rival except for the force crankset, it's just too sexy.
