IRVINE, Calif - Brian Nygaard of the Luxembourg Pro Cycling Team Project jointly announced today with Trek a long term partnership that will equip 2010 Tour runner-up Andy Schleck and his brother Frank with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2.
Trek is tasked as the official Equipment Supplier and Advisor of the Luxembourg based team for 2011 and beyond and will not only be responsible for selecting those products that they feel confident will fill the new team's first season with successes from the get go.
The full roster and title sponsor for the team are yet to be announced, however Team Director Kim Andersen has confirmed that both Frank and Andy Schleck will be racing for the newly formed team.
Trek will be the complete bicycle supplier, using Shimano's Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain and brakes. Hennie Stamsnijder, Shimano's Sports Marketing Manager relayed, "Shimano is known for its reliability and precision, and that is something this new team and Trek identify with and will rely upon when the stakes are high. We look forward to working with Trek in this endeavor to support this highly anticipated team."
Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 was launched in the fall of 2008 and has secured an abundance of professional race victories since and continues to be the most technologically advanced component system in the pro peloton. The Di2 electronic shifting system provides benefits found in no other shifting system with the ability to add multiple shifters and significantly reduced shift effort.
