SCOTT Sports Triathlete Sarah Groff Secures Her Spot on the US Olympic Team for London 2012 Aboard the New Foil

Sun Valley, ID - SCOTT Sports Olympic distance Triathlete Sarah Groff rode her new FOIL aero road bike right onto the US Olympic Team this past weekend in London. The venue was an Olympic trials event that also served as a Team Qualifier. Sarah finished 7th overall in the stacked field of competitors and took the second of two Olympic spots offered at the Trials, beating several favorites for the US Team in 2012 London Olympic Games.

"This is a fabulous example of how aero road can present an advantage for short distance Triathlons," remarked Adrian Montgomery. "Our FOIL made quite an impact in the Pro Peloton when we first introduced it, and road racers instantly took to the idea of aero road. Now we have a whole line of FOILs offered in the consumer market, because EVERYBODY can realize the benefits of aero road, whether it's lower average wattage output or higher average speed while riding or racing."

"Now it's time we begin touting the benefits to a market that understands aerodynamic benefits in Triathlon, and particularly a short distance like the Olympic discipline," he continued. "A Superbike, like the Plasma3, isn't necessary or even legal in an Olympic distance event when competitors are allowed to draft, much like in a road racing scenario. Our F01 tube technology from Scott Aero Science offers aero advantages at a wide range of wind angles, so it's truly an all-rounder and a game changer when used in Triathlon."

Sarah added,"I love the way the bike handles, it feels like a Ferrari, it's very responsive and slippery. It gives me extra confidence knowing I am on one of the fastest bikes available aerodynamically speaking."

We'd like to offer congratulations from SCOTT Sports to Sarah Groff for her performance aboard the FOIL.
