Did anyone else find something amiss with the organization of the Sea Otter this year? The information booth staff seemed completely uninformed. No one could tell me where to go to start the road race, whether there would be food or wheel support, or where would be a good place for spectators to watch. Also, there was a major logistical issue with getting around. It seemed that the organizers expected folks to take their bikes everywhere, but that necessitated going through narrow walkways and up and down stairs. Mountain bikers were constantly zipping down these stairs, nearly taking me out as I was slipping around on my road shoes.

Overall, the race itself was a blast, the bike porn was top notch, and I can't wait to do it again next year. However, it seems that there were a few details missing that would have made the whole experience much less stressful. Did anyone else have problems?

Same issues as last year. I asked where registration was at one of the info booths and the girl was dazed that I didn't see the registration balloon flying above it. My Bad I usually look in the air for the reg area. Then I asked if my race was still starting at the same time or if there were dealys and after 4 people they just said "Sure sounds good" that was comforting. At least they worked the expo around most of the mud. I will be back again next year.

I raced the 40+ cat 5 circuit race and had to wait 3.5 hours for the results to get posted...in the rain....and they screwed up my registration for the MTB race and gave me someone elses BIB so my time and his are swaped.

Is it always like that?

This was my first time at Sea Otter. Is it always that muddy? I hated trudging my bike through all of that.

It's been drier sometimes in prior years but they moved it from March to April in an attempt to get days with less rain which has not worked out so well. Maybe next year. This much rain in April is an anomaly but who knows.
