Anyone here make their own yogurt? I used to back when I was single, a LONG time ago. Having been to France and tasting REAL yogurt has spoiled me for the crap sold here. So, I'm thinking of buying a yogurt maker. Any suggestions??

My cooking already produces enough "live active cultures" ... albeit accidentally...

It's pretty darn easy. Bring a gallon of 2% milk to a simmer. Turn off burner. Let cool. Add
one cup active yogurt. Put it in the corner. When it's set, refrigerate it.

It's about as easy to make as a bowl of cereal.

I have the best success with 2%. Bring it to a LIGHT simmer. Keep it there for a moment, kill the heat. Let it cool to ambient, add a cup of dannon or your last batch. I put mine in the oven (off) to let it culture.

It doesn't get as completely firm and waterless as dannon, but pretty close. It's really sour.

I was thinking more along the line of getting a yogurt maker. I know you can do it without, but this way is a no-brainer. I'm dying to try making it with the "raw" milk sold at a local natural foods store. I'll post pics:rolleyes:
