I assume this means on the cloth type of tape. I am sort of going full retro ala Rivendell on my touring/commute rig and am thinking of finishing the bars with cloth tape over top of the existing cork for vibration comfort. A long time ago I stopped using cloth tape because cork was the way to go. In fact I only remember 1 bike I owned having cloth and it came on the bike. And I'm thinking of doing white cloth (groan) or maybe orange the bike is orange and antique white. So back to the original question, Shellac, how and why? I have amber that I use on woodwork projects, but clear maybe and again WHY?
