hi all,

Im looking into several used bikes that i might buy. So, are the new 10 speed drivetrains really all that much better than a 9 speed. I've ever seen new bikes with 9 or 10 (cannondale R700 vs R800). I noticed in one used bike that it was 9spd, and did that freakishly annoying clicking when youre not pedalling, all 9spd dont do that do they??? So, I just wanted to see if anyone could tell the main differences in price, performance, and that stupid clicking. (105 stuff)
Thanks

I don't think the clicking has anything to do with it. The only difference with a ten speed is that you have slightly more gear flexibility b/c you have the two extra gears. Other than that, it is more expensive b/c it is the new thing. I'd put my money in the 9 speed and use the extra cash on an accessory or two.
