Hi, I have an older Ultegra 8spd groupo and had my rear wheel hub blow out on me last weekend. I'm looking to get a replacement wheel or wheelset off ebay. Most '07 and '08 wheels advertise 9spd and 10spd ready. Is there any backwards compatibility? Or do i have to find a wheel that is specifically advertised 8spd?

Any Shimano 8, 9, or 10 speed normal hub (except Dura Ace 7800) will work with an 8 speed cassette.

Yep, all the same spacing. As mentioned, the Dura Ace 7800 Hub is the only one that won't work. Shimano compatible wheelsets (ie Mavic, FSA, Easton, etc) designed for 10 speed will also work.
