My 9 Speed Dura-Ace shifter blew up today for the second time, so I have decided to make the move to Rival 10. Question is, can I get away with my Shimano front derailleur or do I need a SRAM one? Also, what about chains? I have a Dura-Ace 9 speed chain. Does that need to go also? Thanks.

You could keep the DA shifter and front derailleur but I assume you want to change both shifters. I think that the rival shifter will work with a shimano front d but I've never seen that set up on a roadie (Sram shifters and shimano front derailleurs work with the mtb).

10 speed chains are a fraction narrower than 9 speed. A 9 speed chain may work but wont be great.

Oh and if you have a few miles on the chainrings they MAY need to be replaced to work with the new chain.
