I suppose the Shimano guys will answer me in due time, but this one caught me unawares:

What's new with the CN-7901 and CN-6701?

I know the -01 usually does not denote a large change...

What "they" told me is that the 7901 and 6701 chains are a running change that is more durable than the 7900/6700. I know that the new 5701 chain was not offered as a 5700. I had ot replace two chains and went with the newer ones.

This is the extent of my knowledge, too. I am curious WHAT they changed -- but I guess we'll find out!
