Lots and lots of changes for this affordable groupset.

New 4 arm design for the crankset
(5 arm cranksets are also being made for both double and triple)

New 11-34 9 speed cassette

New dual pivot rim brake calipers
(claimed 20% increase in performance)

New flat mount mechanically actuated disc brakes
(to be used with with steel or stainless steel disc brake rotors)

New hubs with E-THRU technology from mountain bikes
(this is a 12mm thru axle setup)

New Rapidfire Plus gear shifters for flat bars

New shifter design with the cables under the bar tape
(Front will shift much easier than previous generations as well)

New front derailleur design with the long arm

New optislick cables

New two tone black and gunmetal color scheme

Wow, that's an impressive lineup. I know Sora get's balked at, but this would be a solid setup for an entry level bike.

Well to be fair it wasn't that comparable to upper end groups before. The braking and front shifting were not up to par. They seemed to address both of those quite well and then quite a bit of other stuff as well.

Their five arm cranks, both the double and the triple, come with a chain guard to keep pants clean for commuters. They have thru axle hubs and wheels for this group. They have flat mount disc brakes for it. They made it look very modern and up market. They added range to the cassette.

I agree, impressive lineup. I see it catching on pretty big around my parts.
