When you buy a new bike and they ship it to you in a box "unassembled", how exactly "unassembled" do the bikes come?

What parts do you have to assemble yourself? Does it vary from one manufacturer to another?

Thanks folks

If it is boxed like a bike that arrives at a bike shop it usually arrives kinda together only not. The handlebars will need to be attached to the stem, brakes adjusted, seat post into the seat tube, front wheel put into the fork, pedals put on, and so forth. Some bikes show up in a lot of little pieces. Just ask whomever you are purchasing the bike from. Get a bike repair book and they will show you how to assemble and adjust.
