I could use a little help in locating a good pair of riding shorts, with a shorter inseam.

I don't want to go to Tri shorts (typically 5.5" inseam), but maybe a happy medium (7" inseam or so).

Do certain manufacturers typically run shorter inseams than others?

Sugoi Evolution Shorty. Standard chamois and a length longer than the tri shorts but not as long as regular shorts. I have a 28" inseam and these are the only shorts I have found that I really like.

If you are a woman, check out Pearl Izumi. They used to make a shorter short.
