It's been raining, I'm not in a fantastic mood, and I think getting my line wet down at the river might be a good way to finish things off. Do you think I'll get shanked by hobos? My MTB ride got cancelled since it's been raining all day.

People fishing near bridges should be shanked by hobos. :) A few months ago, I was riding my bike across a bridge that people use for fishing. When one of the fishermen was casting, he did not look back and almost planted a fish hook into my face. Since then I have not been having good thoughts about fishing on or near bridges.

I was swimming at the Ichetucknee after some NNCing and there was a hobo under the bridge. He shouted across to me "How far is it to the Suwannee?" I replied that it was about 10 miles and he threw his hands up as if I had told him it was clear across the country. Apparently he didn't feel like walking that far. He was laying in his underwear under the overpass :p

I'm not fishing ON the bridge, that would be suicidal.

Me too man. One of my favorite road bike rides is to park my car at the Itchy bridge, and ride out the Branford and back. It's like a 32 mile ride or something. Once I get back to the car I head down to the river and jump in for a swim. The current is swift there but damn it feels good, that water is ice cold. It's a great place to hang out aside from the hobos in their underwear. But I guess in my bike shorts I probably look like I'm in my underwear too.

At least someone would see your death (or dead body). If you get shanked under the bridge, no one will see it and who knows how long it will take to discover your corpse.

Good point. Maybe I'll just go home and read a book on the porch and watch it rain.

I'm not sure if I've made it to the very head spring. I always just tube from the tram points. It is definitely a gorgeous place to swim and hang out, but there are just too many damn people there during the summers, it's hard to enjoy when you feel like sardines.
