Hi Everyone, trying to find out if anyone knows anything about a mysterious signature on my Serotta Legend Ti frame. It is 1998 model and it has a signature on the toptube close to the seatpost. It is hard to recognize, everything I can see is " John Mh..." it's hard to undestand what letters go after Mh.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks.

Typically 'signatures' on the top tube close to the seat tube were the names of the owners. Serotta often did this on custom builds at the request of the owner.

The only noteworthy signature I've seen on Serottas has been that of Ben Serotta who signed various 'special edition' and anniversary bikes.

Thank you. Does such signature (Of the owner) increases, decreases or does not affect the value of the bike? Thanks

Unless the name on the bike was that of someone famous, notorious, legendary, etc., it doesn't add to the value. Some would say that it can detract from the value because who wants to ride with someone else's name on your bike.

I've purchased a Serotta that had a name on the top tube and paid to have it removed.
