g'day all

I have Selle SMP Evolution saddle and after 8-9 (3 hours each) rides it slipped on rails about 5mm. The rails are metal (dont know material).

I thought I had it secured tight but obviously not tight enough!

Any tips on securing the saddle so it does not slip? I did grease the bolts but that was a few months ago. How often do I need to re-grease?

Anyone else having problems with SMP saddles slipping after a few rides?

My seatpost is Thomson Elite, in case it makes any difference.

Thanks.

Common cause.

Even though you tighten them to specs, saddle rail clamp bolts often loosen up a bit after the first few miles and should be retorqued.

Also make sure the clamp bolt spherical washers are properly positioned (washer's concave seat against convex underside of bolt head) and that there's no grease or oil on the seat rails and in the top/bottom clamp rail channels. You may want to degrease these areas with mineral spirits or something similar.

I've never re-greased clamp bolt threads and the underside of bolt heads on schedule—only when installing a new saddle.
