What is up with Slipstream? It doesn't even seem like they're still in the race, especially after completely missing the break yesterday. It's been nothing from these guys since stage one, with the exception of Millar's good performance before the bike tossing episode. Vandevelde has been in freefall and is now the highest placed rider in 40th.

Were they satisfied with winning the TTT and are now just riding around?

I guess you forgot about David Millar and his bike toss already?

They've popped up on the radar here and there, just no GC guys.

Wait to Le Tour de France with Danielson ...buhaha

If you win a stage, you've repaid the organizers for inviting you, and the pressure is off. Enjoy the show. It's a little surprising that they haven't taken any good shots at anything else, but on the other hand, most of these guys are going to the Tour de France. Don't burn all your matches in Italy.

A few of their guys will probably do well in the TT; I don't think they have anyone who can really contend the big mountain days.

Then what's the plan?

So they don't have a mountain guy, they don't have a sprinter, and they don't have a GC man. You've got to get in breakaways and try to make something happen right? Are they going to be a team that tries to win time trials, and then sits in the rest of the time?

And how is any of this going to change before France?

edit: I see that there are no Slipstream riders in today's break either.

Mountains Guy - Danielson/Lowe
Sprinter - Dean/Sutton/Farrar
GC Man - No One Really

They do have guys at most positions except GC, it's just they don't have the best guys at those positions. Compare them to a Cofidis etc and you'll see much the same lineups. They are however a TT powerhouse it seems so they'll obviously play to their strengths.

Looks like it - in the latest edition of Cyclingnews Millar has said he wants to do well in the TT. Part of the problem is that if Slipstream really are a clean team, then a GC guy on Slipstream is always going to struggle with the recovery needed to compete in a grand tour against the less scrupulous teams.

High Road implements the same clean program and it has won three (?) stages. The same goes for CSC, which won one.

And Slipstream won the TTT... hopefully it is showing that riders can compete clean and win. These are still stage wins rather than contending for the GC though - I think it is the recovery needed to be consistent day in day out and actually win the overall that clean teams will struggle with.
