I bet this was part of the deal to stall shrinking the number of ProTour teams.

I like the idea, because it makes it slightly harder for any one team to control most aspects of the race. The downside is that there's one fewer spot for a young rider to learn the ropes of a GT or major one-day race, because each spot takes on new importance. For a team like Dimension Data, that could prove problematic, given their goal of promoting African cycling.

I wish they had made and publicized the decision much sooner, so teams could better plan their manpower expenditures. Better late than never, I guess.

Won't change the sandbagging epidemic in the peloton. Which ultimately it's why revenues and viewership isn't going anywhere. Because everyone admits that of a 200km stage, nothing matters until the last 30km when racers finally feel like racing
